Part Time Staff for Current Research Project
The Work
This is a pilot project ultimately to provide leaflet information for people with mobility issues, testing the ease of use for wheelchair travel on various footpaths leading towards Rother Valley Country Park near Killamarsh. The work is based on 5 routes leading into the park from;
The project runs throughout 2024 and beyond until completion. One person of each age group will be needed for each of 5 routes. For example, one person from one age group could do just one route, or all 5 routes (but on different days to avoid tiredness affecting the assessment).
The Researchers
We're employing women (there is a gender related reason for this) within 4 different age categories (15-25, 26-40, 41-50 & 51-65). The only skills required are the love of outdoors and attention to detail.
This work is only suitable for persons of average height/weight and with no serious health issues, with the knowledge they will need to push an occupied wheelchair on footpaths away from roads, (similar in style to paths within RVCP).
For continuity, I will be the seated researcher (although with no disabilities) for each route recording the “pusher’s” comments and photographing the route. No previous skills or experience needed other than the above criteria. Parental consent is needed for the younger age range, plus the journey is audio recorded for this age group. CRB/DBS checks are in place.
Timescale
The work is very part time and will only involve periods of (about) 1 hour per route. If you don't want to commit too much time or just want to try out the experience, just one of the routes is fine, that completes one route for one age group.
The research days and times are variable to suit your availability, but currently are being carried out on Mondays (mornings), Tuesdays (any time), Wednesday and Thursday (mornings) and Fridays (any time).
If you live locally (say, within 6 miles of RVCP) we can arrange pick-up and return to your home or workplace.
Pay
Paid in cash between £20 to £25 for each route being researched.
Note
This is purely a pilot project at present and the researcher status will be that of a volunteer, but being paid for the time spent. If this project is successful it has the potential to roll out regionally and the researchers would be invited to take part in more work of a similar nature.
